Terms of use
These terms cover Chalk and any other Android application published by COZYMOST ACCOMMODATIONS LTD. They are deliberately short, because our software does very little on your behalf: it runs on your device and keeps your records.
The terms
1. Acceptance
By installing or using our software you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the application.
2. Licence
COZYMOST ACCOMMODATIONS LTD grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use our software on devices you own or control, for your own purposes including your own business use. You may not redistribute, sell, rent, reverse-engineer or create derivative works from the software except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
3. Your data is yours
Everything you enter belongs to you. It is stored on your device and we never receive a copy. You may export it at any time in JSON or CSV from the app’s own settings, and you may delete it at any time by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling it.
4. Backups are your responsibility
Because we hold no copy of your records, we cannot restore them. If you lose, reset or replace your device, or clear the app’s data, that data is gone. Please export a backup regularly and keep it somewhere you control.
5. Not employment, payroll or legal advice
Chalk helps you keep records and performs arithmetic on them — hours, cost, revenue, spread, fill rate and turn-up percentages. Those figures are a summary of what you entered, not advice. Chalk does not determine anyone’s employment status, does not calculate tax, national insurance, holiday pay or minimum-wage compliance, and does not verify that a ticket, licence or right-to-work document is genuine or current with its issuer. Its clash and ticket checks act on the dates and times you typed in, so they are only as good as that data.
You remain responsible for your obligations as an employer or supplier of labour, for the accuracy of any timesheet you issue, and for any figure you bill, file or rely on.
5a. Records about other people
Chalk stores information about your workers on your device. You are the controller of that information: telling them what you hold, keeping it accurate, and keeping it no longer than you need it are your responsibilities, not ours. We never receive it. See the privacy policy for how it is stored and how to delete it.
6. No payment processing
Chalk records sales that have already happened. It does not move, hold, transfer or process money, and it is not connected to any payment network, bank or financial institution.
7. Provided “as is”
Our software is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, COZYMOST ACCOMMODATIONS LTD is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profit, crop or business, arising from your use of or inability to use our software. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Price
Chalk is provided free of charge. It contains no advertising and no in-app purchases. We may change this in future for new versions, but we will not retroactively charge for a version you have already installed.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do, and the current version is always the one published here.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable at our registered address, 2 Frederick Street, London, England, WC1X 0ND, United Kingdom, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions.
