What we can and cannot recover
We cannot recover your records. Screed has no server and no backup of your farm — that is the whole design. If the app is uninstalled, the device is lost, or Clear all data is confirmed, the records are gone and there is nothing on our side to restore from.
So export regularly. Settings → Export → Full backup (JSON) writes a file and hands it to the share sheet; send it to yourself and keep it somewhere you trust. Settings → Import & restore puts it back.
Common questions
Why is my set still shown as curing after the 7-day break?
Because the target on a mix is stated at an age — usually 28 days — and a 7-day break is roughly two-thirds of the eventual strength. Screed shows the early figure and charts the gain, but it will not pass or fail a set until the stated age has actually been crushed. Judging a 28-day target on a 7-day break would mark good concrete as failing.
How are the test dates worked out?
From the day the set was cast, plus the ages you chose for it. Cast six cubes today at 7 and 28 days and Screed schedules both breaks immediately. Nothing is entered twice and there is no reminder to set — the rail simply orders itself by what is due soonest.
Can I record more specimens than I planned to cast?
Yes. The result sheet has an Another specimen action, and any extra reading you add is kept and included in the mean. You can also remove a row, or clear a whole age and put the set back on the rail if a reading was entered against the wrong one.
Can I work in cubic yards and psi?
Yes. Settings → Measurement switches the whole app between m³ / MPa / °C and yd³ / psi / °F, and there is a separate currency picker. Records are stored in one canonical set of units and converted on display, so switching never rewrites a figure you entered.
Does Screed need a connection?
Only to show this website's privacy policy page inside the app. Every other feature — recording, searching, the charts, export — works with the phone in airplane mode.
Can I move my data to a new phone?
Export a full JSON backup on the old device, send it to yourself, and use Settings → Import & restore on the new one. Import replaces everything currently in the app, so export first if the new device already has records worth keeping.
